Not afraid

“Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?" The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 15:55-57)

Interesting that the power of sin is the law. I believe it was Austine who wrote about his fathers orchard. This orchard was much better than the orchard next door. But as soon as Augustine was told not to go into the neighbors orchard he felt an overwheling desire to do the very thing he had been commanded not too.

In Christ we have changed hearts and minds, our desires change and Grace enables us to move in natural obedience to that which we once disobeyed.

And also, I believe, that we are not able to fulfill the law perfectly, thus being classified as sinners. So if we want to stick to the law apart from Christ, we are doomed to the punishment that follows the transgressions against the law.
