Who steers your life?

Models do - says today's newspaper. Come to think of it, it is perfectly right for many people. The way you look, the clothes you wear, the shoes and handbags you buy - tell a story about you. A very superficial story, but still a valid one for the like-minded fashion-crazed individuals.
But it does not end there; in fact, this is only the beginning of the whole philosophy of brainlesness.

Have you been to the stores recently? Shopping for decent clothes? I have...

And I came home with one cheap necklace, but no clothes. Not that there are none in the shops. There are mountains of them. But try finding some nice, decent pieces, and it will make you very busy for some hours without any results. Oh, I know, I am exaggerating a bit. What I am writing about is an overall impression of the state of things.

Coming back to my sheep (French expression): what is this on-going craziness resulting in anorexia, bulemia, suicide, depression or overweight? Pretty broad scale, isn't it? Why have we become so influenced by trends and fashions, towards looks and pretences, towards fighting the inevitable, the time?
What ideals do people follow really? Live for the moment, enjoy what you have, tomorrow you are going to be dead... Sounds familiar to me. Has always been there, for all who have not known God. What else do they have but their few years and good looks? They are forced to rely on those, and it is very sad, because they are unable to preserve any of them.
For what happens to the children of man and what happens to the beasts is the same; as one dies, so dies the other. They all have the same breath, and man has no advantage over the beasts, for all is vanity. (Ecc 3:19)

Plastic surgery of every part of the body is the newest craze spreading like fire. What do we really try to cover and hide? What do we really believe should happen afterwards? How many people get hurt in the process?
The real healing is somewhere else, the real leadership is in Jesus. He is our Rock, our Savior, our Lord. He gives us peace, joy and Hope.
Every day I understand it more and more.
Praise the LORD! Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever! (Psa 106:1)
